Bethphage
Community Development
We want to create a local history book based on memories of Ellesmere and the Jebb family to commemorate 100 years of Save the Children.
About this cause
Bethphage is a charitable & specialist provider of support for adults with learning disabilities. Support can be 24/7 or for a few hours each week. We are also experienced at supporting people with physical disabilities, sensory impairment, mental health needs or autism. We support people in their own home, a home they share with other people or family members, small residential registered care homes & at Day Centres. Bethphage supports people to make the most of their skills by helping them find work, go to college & enjoy their hobbies and interests. Bethphage recently took over the management of Our Space Community Centre & Library in Ellesmere & are working with locals to transform the centre into a vibrant community hub which meets the needs & wishes of the people of Ellesmere.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The project will facilitate bringing the community together to share memories & stories. We know that people & communities benefit by understanding their heritage as it helps give a sense of belonging, purpose & can uncover unknown connections & common ground. The outcome, a local history book, will produce a permanent record of local, social history of which everyone can feel proud of.
