We want to develop our library into a place that is a centre for community activity, including a programme of arts and craft activities.
About this cause
Community run library service free use for all 3,667 members, used by pre-school children to the house bound elderly · provides Home Library Service, summer reading scheme for children, used by primary and secondary schools, adults with learning difficulties, Careers Service, Adult Learning, Knit & Natter sessions, craft classes, CAB, no alternative for loaning books or IT facilities for public use. IT for children without such facilities at home, IT support for all, including elderly · supports Enhancing Health and Wellbeing objectives of the Council by providing community activities and events. Home Library Service assists independent living, facilities used by lone home workers, desire to become a community hub for arts and social activities.
How this cause brings people in the community together
This will bring people together, young and old. It will encourage community cohesion (at a time when the town is growing rapidly), it will support learning and personal development and will provide a wider range of arts and cultural activity, something in short supply locally.
