We want to buy five new lap tops to help local unemployed people search for work online with support from our employment support team.
About this cause
Reach South Sheffield supports people to build confidence and resilience, so they can make positive changes for themselves, their families and their communities. We work primarily with people living in the communities of Gleadless Valley, Lowedges, Batemoor and Jordanthorpe, to overcome barriers and inequalities. We do this by: Encouraging people to gain knowledge and skills through a range of learning opportunities Helping people to secure employment through supporting them to find and apply for work Improving people's health and wellbeing through promoting healthier lifestyle choices and offering activities to increase fitness and reduce isolation Supporting all of the above objectives through promoting volunteering opportunities
How this cause brings people in the community together
We serve the communities of Gleadless Valley, Lowedges, Jordanthorpe and Batemoor. These communities have higher rates of unemployment than both the Sheffield average and the average for England and Wales. By helping local unemployed people to find work, the project will improve their quality of life, and the lives of their families and communities. The benefits of employment go beyond income.
