We want to create a child friendly, engaging garden and hard standing area for outdoor cooking and craft which promotes working as a team.
About this cause
Thriftvale scouts is a children organisation offering weekly activity nights for boys and girls aged 6 and 25 years old. We play games, make stuff using recycled materials, and become involved in local community projects. The children make new friends, learn to become more independent, acquire new skills through challenges, adventures and creative experiences. The children love to camp, cook, hike and explore new places and gain an insight into our world. Scouting is an awe inspiring organisation and I have been cub leader in Cranfield for the past 17 years and the joy and wonder that I see through these children's eyes is amazing, its a real pleasure to be part of this fabulous children's charity, as they grow, having fun, learning skills and making friendships which last a lifetime.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The hall is available to the local community to use and at present we have brownies, guides, Zumba dancing and Taekwondo using our hall. However the outside area is not apporopirate at present for general use. Even the cubs cannot use this area safely due to the mess and overgrown folliage. We would like to open a new beaver section where younger aged children from six would use this area too.
