About this cause

Because of a long-standing commitment to the people of Southwark spreading over 25 years, we have developed an extensive knowledge of the needs of the local refugee and migrant community. We always understood the importance of those communities in the social fabric of our borough and in Peckham in particular. Through a broad approach of our clients needs, we always managed to offer an inclusive service. To date we offered: 1)General Advice and Immigration Advice Level 1 (OISC and Advice UK monitored) 2)ESOL classes ( delivered by the Workers' Educational Association and Time Bank UK) 3)Employment surgery/ Employability 4) Parenting program

How this cause brings people in the community together

Community based social activities, family support and ESOL are needed by the vast majority of the project beneficiaries in order for them to settle in and to engage with the process of integration. Meeting those needs are crucial to overcome the usual social exclusion factors from the language barrier to not understanding the host culture leading to a general feeling of isolation.
