About this cause

Our objectives are to relieve the physical & psychological distress of people in fear of, or experiencing, domestic abuse. They often have complex support needs. Some have fled abusive relationships often leaving with very little belongings. In crisis their needs may be food, clothing, finances. Other families accessing the 1-2-1 surgery can benefit from safety planning, emotional and/or practical support. We also support with housing and tenancy management; financial issues, budgeting &legal support. People benefit from emotional and mental well being support including confidence building. Their children benefit from specialist support, art therapy to help them come to terms with their experiences and peer support to enable integration into new schools & communities.

How this cause brings people in the community together

This project helps people to move on from abuse, increases their self confidence & offers peer support that helps them to participate in their local community. One woman summed it up "I feel this course really provides people with the knowledge around abuse & all different types. It provides people with the strength & ability to move on in life with a positive outlook and attitude."
