About this cause

St Luke’s Parochial Church Council manages the church site ensuring its facilities are used to maximum effect benefiting the health and wellbeing of ALL residents within the parish. St Luke's Centre has developed by deliberately focusing on improving the health, education and wellbeing of this disadvantaged community and is now at the forefront of that community. Weekly footfall into the Centre is over 700 people (toddlers to the elderly). Many local people face physical/mental health challenges; we offer confidential counselling, dance & exercise (for all ages), health advice, and support for cancer sufferers - all in partnership with health professionals and volunteers, including Helen Rollason Cancer Charity, Macmillan Nurses and Carers Choices dementia care.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The Centre is a community space. The project will vastly improve opportunities for visitors with dementia to enjoy their time here, prompting memories and improved concentration. The enhanced environment will encourage links to the delivery of dementia care and the therapeutic benefits of creative activity for all. In turn this will help carers, families, and the clients themselves.
