Young People
We want to refurbish the kitchen in our scout building, including better ventilation and a new ceiling.
About this cause
We provide local children from age 6 - 14 challenge and adventure, helping them fulfill their potential by working in teams, learning by doing and thinking for themselves. We give children of every background the chance to stretch themselves, learn new skills and make life long friends. We provide an opportunity to have fun, gain badges and awards, attend camps, partake in activities from simple team games to hiking, climbing, shooting and canoeing. We help the children to take risks in a safe environment, learn responsibility and gain confidence. We take part in local events giving support to the Community as a whole, for example, at the annual Remembrance Day and St Georges Day parades, Rose Queen celebrations and via our much appreciated Christmas Card delivery service.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The kitchen upgrade will enable the youth members to learn cooking and household skills. It will also enable us to hold community meetings in the building and provide refreshments which we are currently unable to do.
