About this cause

Bell View is a charity with the aims of supporting older people to live independently. Our work also involves promoting physical and mental well-being; reducing older people’s social and geographical isolation and increasing their participation in decision making. The charity was established by local residents in 1997 and is based in a purpose built centre in Belford. The charity’s project area covers north Northumberland and includes Sea houses, Bamburgh, Beadnell and surrounding rural areas. Bell View delivers a range of services and support including social gatherings, assisted shopping trips and trips out, a Home Care service and day care service which include support for people with dementia.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Bell View has been supporting older people for over 12 years and we know that many older people are socially isolated and have an overwhelming need for contact; they often say they feel lonely and vulnerable. This project supports them to live independently, reduces loneliness, improves quality of life and contributes to community cohesion with older people feeling connected to their community.
