About this cause

Finlay's Friends was set up in memory of Finlay Bennett who died suddenly at the Yorkhill Children's Hospital (now the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow) aged 8 years of Meningitis. He attended a local school, Touch Primary in Dunfermline, and his parents set up the charity in his memory with huge support from the local community and Jimmy Clarkson who works at Co-Op Funeral Care Dunfermline whose daughter was a friend of Finlay's. We provide 24 hour comfort kits for the Intensive care unit and Acute Admissions as partners of the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow for families with children rushed to hospital in an emergency with basic toiletries, notebook, pen, blanket, socks, snacks and a keep sake. We also fund a mobile phone charging station for the family room.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We have worked for a year already and the charity builds and maintains a strong community spirit and a bringing together of people of all ages who all knew Finlay or are inspired by his story. We focus on events where people can get together and have fun such as a family ceilidh, Sunday Roast, girls curry night which all get people together for a good cause.
