About this cause

Whoopsadaisy helps children with physical disabilities live as independently as possible. Under-fives attend a weekly, two-hour Conductive Education session with a parent or carer. Tailored to children’s needs and abilities, these sessions help improve posture, co-ordination, balance and mobility. Working in small groups builds social and communication skills and gives both children and parents the chance to learn from each other and make new friends. Children work hard towards big goals (e.g. learning to crawl, sit unaided, or eat/drink by themselves) with every little step along the way boosting the children's -and the parents’- confidence. We also offer term-time Saturday sessions and Holiday Clubs where 5to12 year-old's can continue building their skills after they have started school.

How this cause brings people in the community together

In addition to helping children with physical disabilities, two other groups in the local community will benefit. Parents and carers will be able to take a much-needed break, ‘re-charging their batteries’ or spending valuable time with their child’s siblings. Holiday Club volunteers always benefit hugely from working with the children. We will have a pool of 10-15 volunteers, one for each child.
