We want to purchase a new long-lasting floor covering to replace the existing worn-out carpet.
About this cause
We are part of the UK's biggest mixed youth organisation for 6- to 25-year-olds. We currently have 180 members, and in 2016 won a County Award as the fastest-growing Group in the county. Scouts and Guides help children and young adults reach their full potential, to develop skills including teamwork, time management, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation, cultural awareness and commitment. Our award-winning training scheme for volunteers means that adults get as much from Scouts as young people. Our approach focuses on what you want to get out of volunteering with Scouts, whilst respecting how much time you can offer. Over 90% of Scout volunteers say that their skills and experiences have been useful in their work or personal life.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The building is used by community organisations such as church groups, musical groups, Rossendale centre for adults with disabilities, and for events such as our Gang Shows, two annual community plays, craft fairs, concerts and ceilidhs, and so on. A new carpet will greatly enhance the facilities we have to offer since the existing one is threadbare and stained after 12 years of continual usage.
