Cromar Future Group
Education & Skills
We want to buy science equipment for use in the after-school science clubs we run in local primary schools and for other science events.
About this cause
The Cromar Future Group aims to make science and technology accessible to the local community by organising talks and workshops in Upper Deeside and the Howe of Cromar. A key aspect of this is organising hands-on science activities for primary schools by providing after school clubs and science-based local events. Primary schools have limited science equipment. Rural children cannot access the excellent city based science-centres and activities on an "every-weekend" basis as can city children. We aim to help bridge that gap. We work in partnership with the University of Aberdeen's outreach team and Science Centre, but we are not funded by them and we make no charge for our work with children.
How this cause brings people in the community together
In an era of rapidly changing jobs and skills, this project aims to inspire children to acquire the skills of the future by supporting our local schools with hands-on science activities. We run three after-school science clubs with local primary schools, organise a local Science Festival, organise holiday science activities, and run a winter series of adult talks.
