About this cause

Glenrothes Rugby Football Club, which is affiliated to Scottish Rugby Union, was founded in 1965 and our aim is the promotion, practice and play of Rugby Union Football. The Club provides the opportunity for members, from 5yrs old into adulthood, to play rugby and encourages them, and their families, to become part of the rugby community. To facilitate this we hold regular fun based activities, camps, an annual end of season barbecue and take part in Rugby Force Day. This is an event where children who have attended our taster sessions within schools join us at the club in a day of fun which is a celebration of rugby football. We support our coaches, all volunteers, in their professional development and afford other volunteers the opportunity to give something back to the community.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our project will help the community as a whole as fund raising events encourages community engagement, fosters civic pride and a sense of ownership. It will aid members of the community who do not access to transport and ensure that lack of transport is not a barrier to taking up a sport. Reducing car trips needed will also keep down our negative environmental impact and CO2 emissions.
