We want to operate a community hub which provides real opportunities for young people and families with a community cafe.
About this cause
We are a local Parish congregation what although a worshipping community seeks to serve our local community in every way possible. We show practical care from the youngest to the oldest. The Hub is our community work that seeks offer a service to the community that is fun, practical and accessible. The Hub presently runs a cafe, a Hub Kids event that compromises, crafts, school clothing exchange, consoles, inflatable and a homework club. These activities run at cost and seek to address issues like loneliness and social inclusion. We also run groups like silver surfers teaching the elderly computer and tablet skills, and Tiny Tunes which is a music and movement class providing high class preschool music and movements classes. We also have begun a Hub Youth cafe and look to expand this.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The Hub will be a safe inclusive place providing a quality product to the community and through social engagement make a difference to lives through the generations. We spent two years on community fact finding and although we identified gaps in local provision for younger people we discovered that across the board the biggest issue is one of loneliness. Our pilot project has already met success.
