We want to supply toiletries to the people we support so that they have the essentials to keep clean and maintain their dignity.
About this cause
We are a food bank covering the south west of Glasgow and our aim is to provide a 3 day emergency food supply to anyone within the area who does not have enough money to buy food. We have over 100 voucher holders in the area - housing associations, Money Matters, doctors surgeries, charities and health visitors who send their clients to us if they feel that they could use our support. We help individuals and families who have problems due to unemployment, illness, homelessness, low income and benefit issues. We aim to help those referred to us in the best way possible, try to get them additional help and to make them feel listened to and supported. This is more than just giving them a bag of food, it is about letting them know that they are not on their own.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our project helps local people who are part of the local community although sometimes marginalised by their circumstances. We work to educate children and others about the problems we face and provide a focal point for volunteers and donors to work for community cohesion. Our project will let more people in the local area know about us and provide opportunities for them to help their neighbours.
