We will provide eight hours of singing tuition to eight primary schools and plan four concerts for schools to unite their community.
About this cause
I'm the charity manager for The BIG Sing SOUL, one of many projects under the charity Imagine The Day. We raise our funds independently of ITD, £21K to date, to take music to those that cannot attend community choirs, providing social inclusion for all. Our objective is to advance the capabilities of children in Primary Education who are at a disadvantage to other schools due to lack of funding by the local authority. By providing tutors to deliver music workshops & create performance opportunities, we will promote the benefits of singing uplifting positive songs to improve the children’s self-worth and positive mental attitude so they will achieve greatness in society in the interests of public benefit. We'll roll this out nationally. Other aims will support prisons/hospitals/disabled.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Music inclusion for all. It's proven that students studying music achieve higher SAT scores & music helps kids stay engaged in school. Improved education=greater success . 1 child in our last workshop had a speech impediment and stutters when talking but volunteered to sing a solo & as she sung there was no evidence of the stutter-she found a freedom in singing that she had not experienced before!
