About this cause

The Living Well Project was established in 2010. We aim to support isolated and vulnerable people in the community of North Aberdeen through a befriending and a cafe service. The befriending service matches friends with trained befrienders supervised by our staff. The Café was established in 2015 to provide a place for support for those suffering with memory loss and dementia. It further aimed to support the carers of those attending the café. The cafes meet in three churches in Aberdeen. Both arms of the project have gone from strength to strength. The feedback has been very positive from the café friends, their carers, professionals and our volunteers. The volunteers are supported and trained by our staff. The staff also plan the activities and provide support to those attending.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The Living Well Project has been helping the vulnerable and isolated in the North of Aberdeen since 2010 through befriending. This approach gives a purpose and friendship to those who otherwise are isolated. The cafe service has been expanding and has allowed those with memory loss to interact with others, their carers to be supported and to engage in normal activities which are vital services.
