We want to raise funds to allow pupils to be able to access practical skills training and activities currently unavailable to them.
About this cause
The principal object of the charity is to promote the benefit of the communities of the isles of Barra and Vatersay, without distinction on the grounds of race, political, religious or other opinions, by associating with local statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance sustainable community development and to promote for public benefit, rural regeneration, including demographic balance. The vision is one of developing the local resources, people and the environment, for the long term benefit of all members of the present and future community. This project relates to raising funds for Castlebay Community School Parent Council to support the delivery of bike ability training, activity workshops and transport costs.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The pupils will be able to access a range of activities/training which is currently unavailable/difficult to access on the island due to its remote isolated location. Bikeability will provide the skills, confidence and safety awareness & physical fitness. The workshops will foster links with local businesses and beyond developing practical skills and experience and help inform career pathways.
