We want to provide respite fun and support to young carers under eight years old. Money will fund staff, venue and activity costs.
About this cause
Carers of Barking and Dagenham provides information, support, advocacy, training, peer support groups, social activities and events for informal carers who care for a relative, friend or neighbour. The person they care for may be frail, disabled, have a mental illness or dementia. We also support young carers who care or help to care for a sibling or their parent who may have a mental illness, drug and/or alcohol dependency. Objectives: The Company is Established to provide service and support to those people caring for other (family, partners, relatives or friends) who are dependent on them. This is based within Barking and Dagenham and adjoining areas or such other areas as the Company may from time to time determine.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Younger carers need targeted support to help them thrive in their schools, interaction with their peer group and to feel included. Many lack confidence and experience social isolation, we currently have a waiting list of younger carers. This project will improve their overall well being. This is also a great way of introducing them to a range of support offered to them once they reach 8 years
