We want to have a heated greenhouse to grow crops and flowers and so students can grow their own produce.
About this cause
The Collingwood Foundation is the fundraising arm of Collingwood School and Media Arts College. to provide additional resources not covered by the schools' delegated budget. It brings together staff, students, parents, members of the community and grant providers with the joint vision of enhancing the education and life experiences of the students. The Foundation exists not only to provide additional resources and opportunities to the students, but also to provide opportunities such as family learning and activities for students within the wider community. In this instance we ask for support in expanding our Sixth form Plot to Pot project which enables our students to grow crops from seeds, harvest and preserve them. It is hoped that the funds will help us to build a greenhouse.
How this cause brings people in the community together
It will help our school community in particular the students studying horticulture. They will learn how to plant, grown, cultivate, harvest, cook, eat, it will make them aware of where a lot of food comes from. They will also be able to sell the produce at school fayres so giving them another life skill in money management, selling goods and using the money to buy more bulbs/seeds and so on.
