About this cause
The main activities of the group is to provide support and local access to services and information for members of the forces and their families currently active or retired from service through our supportive and welcoming environment manned by volunteers from similar backgrounds. Our other activities are to relieve distress and disadvantage by working with other bodies and agencies as well as fund raising. We offer our members and their families a base to meet up each morning where they can seek advice on anything from Medals to CV writing and benefits to Genealogy research.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We are the only service in Alexandria where ex-forces are helped by ex-forces making this is a unique project. We engage with services such as the DWP and Housing services to try to support ex-forces and their families moving back to the area, this can prevent them reaching crisis point by supporting them with applications and directing them to other agencies as well as enhancing their skills.
