About this cause

BWRJFC has grown from 19 to nearly 400 players since it started in 1999. As well as success on the pitch, the club is a vibrant and diverse place: we ensure opportunities for girls and boys in all our age groups, ranging in age from 5-19. The club also supports 2 disability teams. In recognition of our significant work in this area we were delighted to be named the Yorkshire and North East Region FA Charter Standard Club of the Year 2017. However, we have no home to call our own. Our 30 teams play across 5 different sites in York and have no clubhouse to provide a focal point in the community. We have a fantastic opportunity to have our own purpose built pitches and club house - but need to raise £80,000. We'd very much like our community of Bishopthorpe to help make it happen.

How this cause brings people in the community together

It is astonishing how important the Club is to the local community: you would be hard pressed to find a family with children who have not been involved in some way already. This reach extends to our neighbouring villages. All of this has been achieved without any home base. The impact the the club could have with a physical community focal point for our activity is significant (and exciting!).
