Funding will allow us to continue matching older people with volunteers who quickly become friends and offer the support they need.
About this cause
We are a local charity and our aim is that all older people in Bath & North East Somerset live healthier, happier and more independent lives. We do this by running activities in the community such as exercise classes, day centres and social clubs, as well as services such as Befriending, getting people home from hospital, supporting people living with dementia and offering free information and advice. We also represent older people and make sure their opinions are heard by organisations that make decisions about their lives. Each year we support over 12,000 older people, their family members and carers in Bath & North East Somerset.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The older people who use our service no longer feel lonely or isolated, they know who to turn to with any problems and they feel happier with a greater sense of wellbeing. The service is supported by over 100 volunteers who learn new skills, find a new sense of purpose in life, are able to give something back to their community and support those most in need.
