About this cause

Socks and Chocs for the Homeless‘ is an initiative started by Ian Northcott, and supported by his work colleagues, to provide homeless people in Birmingham, Coventry, Worcester and Wolverhampton with a few basic home comforts at Christmas. Our objectives are to relieve hardship and distress among homeless people and among those in need who are living in adverse housing conditions. In particular but not exclusively by: The provision of essential items such as bedding, toiletries and clothing. Funding essential health needs which is not already readily accessible such as foot care; By funding short term emergency accommodation particularly (but not limited to) times of cold or otherwise inclement weather.

How this cause brings people in the community together

It will reduce the number of homeless that are currently vulnerable to not only the elements (weather) but bullying and abuse by members of the public. They will gain confidence in themselves again to be able to gain employment and contribute back to society.
