About this cause

We are a community based organisation who are led by volunteers who give up their time & energy to support others. Our project is based in East Belfast & the beneficiaries are all local residents. We are the only suicide prevention organisation working in the East Belfast area & rely on public donations & small grants to provide the services to those who need them. Every year we directly support 60 people affected by suicide & through events & awareness raising we reach 1500 people. Objectives; Alleviate distress, educate the public, support family & friends, groups for families to express needs & concerns, support people at risk of suicide. Mission; Supporting those who have been bereaved or affected by suicide with referrals for the most appropriate support & raising awareness.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The safe talk training inform people of the signs to look for when someone is at risk of suicide, help them ask if the person is thinking of suicide & give them resources to get help for the person concerned. The awareness sessions will give people information about help & support available in the community & how to access. The promotional items will give positive messages eg ITS GOOD TO TALK.
