About this cause
Claire House Children's Hospice provides respite, palliative and end of life care to children and young people aged 0-23 who have sadly been diagnosed with terminal or life threatening conditions. The vast majority are profoundly disabled, including physical, cognitive and sensory disability. Our catchment includes all of Merseyside, plus parts of West Lancashire, Cheshire and North Wales. We currently care for over 230 children and young people. Many of the children at Claire House require 24 hour care. We provide 1:1 nursing support as well as many beneficial activities and therapies such as physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, play, crafts, music therapy, and our multi-sensory room. We tailor the activities to the specific needs and interests of each individual child or young person.
How this cause brings people in the community together
One of the ways a community can be measured is in the way it takes care for its most vulnerable members. The children and young people who are cared for at Claire House have sadly been diagnosed with terminal or life threatening conditions and face unimaginable challenges. We might not be able to change the outcome, but this project will help each child makes the most of every single day.
