Young People
We want to provide young people in Eskdale with the opportunity to learn to drive. Money will pay for lessons.
About this cause
The objectives of the Langholm Initiative are: 1. To support and encourage the development of the community of Langholm and the surrounding area, by working to improve the social, economic and physical environment of the operating area. 2. To advance the regeneration of Langholm and the surrounding area by working with local businesses, employers and regional agencies to energise the local economy, encourage enterprise, training and engagement by the community at every level. 3. To develop and improve community voluntary activity providing organisational support to voluntary groups and charities operating in the area in close partnership with Third Sector Interfaces. We work with all members of the communities of Eskdale to provide opportunities for regeneration.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Langholm is a remote rural town and as such public transport can be prohibitive in accessing opportunities in employment and training. By offering driving lessons, we will increase chances in life for our young people. This project will encourage young people to volunteer in their community, thereby improving the community and their own employability by offering experience and opportunities.
