About this cause

CFR's are volunteers who provide immediate care to those in their community who have fallen ill. The CFR's are dispatched by the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb). CFR's are trained to attend emergency calls received by the ambulance service (999) and give life-saving care in the minutes up to when the ambulance arrives. The aim of the team is to provide 24hrs service 365 days a year.

How this cause brings people in the community together

U.K. data shows that 60,000 people a year experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) and the current survival rate is < 10%. Early intervention is a critical factor in determining OHCA outcome. ‘Early intervention’ typically means bystander CPR and/or using a PAD until paramedics arrive. Our project will provide CPR training and access to PADs
