We would like to expand our camping equipment so we can offer more residential experiences to our growing unit of Guides.
About this cause
We provide a safe space for girls aged 10-14 in our local community to further their interests, undertake adventures, develop their leadership skills and push themselves beyond their comfort zone. The girls learn about themselves and about their local community, learn new life skills and work as a team as well as independently to achieve personal goals. We aim to teach the girls about the importance and reward of setting themselves goals to further themselves and their abilities. As well as furthering their own skills, the girls teach each other important life skills, using their own experiences to assist their peers.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Residential events give the Guides a sense of responsibility and achievement and help to promote independence. Camp teaches the girls fundamental life skills which will aid them in future years. Skills range from fire lighting and food preparation through to teamwork and leadership skills with the Guides continuing to develop over their time in the Unit, as well peer educating younger Guides.
