Help us provide the village with working church bells for the next 100 years by restoring and augmenting our current bells.
About this cause
Up until a few years ago, and after many years without an active ringing team, Laxfield now has an enthusiastic and growing band of bell ringers who are keen learn this excellent traditional community and social activity. We practice weekly to develop this art to a standard where we will be able to ring for services, weddings and other significant occasions. The bells, fittings and particularly the oak frame are now showing signs of significant wear and decay resulting in only limited ringing in the short term and maybe deemed un-ringable in the not too distant future. We are aiming to provide the village with working church bells for the next 100 years or more by restoring the complete installation and the opportunity to augment to eight bells.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Will provide a traditional resource to the village so that people can learn how to ring and have the bells rung for services and special events. Many people who support the bells aren't necessarily regular church attendees but they recognise the sense of community that the bells bring.
