About this cause
Kidscan funds research to discover and develop new, safe, targeted cures for children's cancers. 1 in 500 children in Britain will be diagnosed with cancer before reaching 14 (that's 6 every day). Tragically 1 in 4 of these won't survive to adulthood. And of those that do, many will suffer lifelong, life-limiting disabilities caused by the treatments that saved their lives. Kidscan is searching for the new treatments that will enable all children with cancer not only to survive but thrive. We receive no statutory funding so we depend on generous support from the local community.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We're based in Salford and most of our research is undertaken in Salford. We support local families facing childhood cancers by offering access to our scientists who can offer their advice and expertise. More than 1 family every week in Gtr Manchester face the pain of a diagnosis of childhood cancer. We want every child affected not only to survive, but thrive
