About the Project
During wintry weather, our fleet of motorcycles are taken off the road when the temperature drops below 4 degrees. On weekend days and Bank Holiday daytime's we use cars because they tend to be multi box call outs. Motorcycles can only carry 1 box. The cars are essential to our service and will continue to provide an uninterrupted service for the patients.
About the Charity
SERV Norfolk blood bikes is a Registered Charity providing a completely FREE, out of hours rapid response, urgent medical transport service for the benefit of Norfolk’s NHS Hospital patients. Operating from 7pm to 7 am, every night of the year and all day on Bank Holidays and weekends, our team of volunteers using a dedicated fleet of motorcycles and cars, collect & deliver urgently required blood, blood products, samples for analysis, instruments, medical notes, and donated breast milk for sick and premature babies. No Trustee, committee member, or member receives any salary. We've saved lives and have saved the NHS hospitals £100's of thousand pounds by not having to pay for taxis or couriers to deliver the items they need. Savings can be diverted into better healthcare & new equipment.
