About this cause

Red Street Scout group has been in existence for almost twelve years, in fact we celebrated our tenth birthday eighteen months ago. We started life as a section of Audley Scouts running a beaver colony in St. Chads School, Red Street but as the children became old enough to move up to cubs our parents asked us if we could set up a cub section. With the blessing of the GSL (Group Scout Leader) of Audley and Newcastle District Scout Group we split off totally and became a group in our own right. Initially we called ourselves 1st Red Street Scout Group but after a while we thought that to be too pretentious and complicated as we are officially 19th Newcastle so we dropped the 1st and become Red Street Scout Group.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Up to 50 youngsters will have the experience of visiting somewhere new and meeting fellow scouts who live in a different country. They'll learn about the history of Gibraltar and see the local sights. They'll come back with great stories to tell their friends and hopefully this will lead to other kids joining the group and being part of future events and making new friends at the weekly meetings
