Linlithgow Reed Band
Art & Culture
We want to expand our rehearsals to help encourage our beginner players to become confident in playing in a group setting.
About this cause
We provide music education to people from ages 8 - 108, then provide entertainment at local gala days, church fetes, old folks homes in east central Scotland. We also provide two concerts a year. Our stated aim is: The objects of the Band shall be to advance the education of the public in the art of Wind Band music by the presentation of public performances and other like activities. In furtherance thereof, the Band shall seek to a) cultivate the art of music among its members b) provide musical entertainment to the public, in particular to the local community c) provide practical tuition to young and new players
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our beginners are the future of the band, and by giving them opportunities to boost their confidence at an early stage, this will lead to better musicians reaching the main band and performing at our many public events. A number of our current beginners are mature students who are being helped to keep their brain active and to keep the social contacts which can help prevent isolation in old age.
