About this cause

Members aged 6 and upwards (boys and girls) are helped no matter what their ability or background to take part in a very wide range of activities based around the Scouting Principles. The great outdoors plays a significant part in our programme, supported by a progressive award system. Young people are encouraged to learn leadership skills and practical hands-on skills for life. Many take on the opportunity of becoming Young Leaders, eventually becoming adult leaders and so the cycle continues. There is also an Institute of Management learning scheme for adult leaders, to further ensure that so every member get the most out of Scouting. There is focus on the community both at home and the world wide family of Scouting - after all we are the world's largest youth movement.

How this cause brings people in the community together

To improve cost effectiveness and cost efficiency of our activities for more of our local young people and families to benefit from. It would enable us to operate more flexibly in line with our volunteer leader’s availability. Our aim is always to make adventurous activities accessible (including affordable) for the whole community - locally, nationally and even internationally.
