Holsworthy Amateur Dramatic Society
Art & Culture
We would like to replace our obsolete stage lighting so that we can continue to provide entertainment and facilities to the local community.
About this cause
Holsworthy Amateur Theatrical Society is a registered charity providing entertainment and theatrical education to the local community. The society owns the 250 seat theatre whose running costs are funded by entrance fees to the three productions. The theatre also provides the facility to local organisations at cost, being staffed by volunteers from the membership of around 100. Recent users are scouts, choirs, rotary, dance schools, town bands and the like. Annual attendances are in the region of 4000 for society productions and between 100 and 250 per night for the local groups. The objective of the society is to entertain and educate using the tradition of amateur dramatics, and to provide the opportunity for anyone to participate on stage, behind the scenes or in technical roles.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Without the proposed replacement the system will eventually fail meaning that our productions will fall below standard or cease altogether. Groups using the theatre will not have the opportunity to put on their productions. In excess of 2500 will be unable to watch or participate in local entertainment, as they have been able since 1972. Comfort will increase due to reduction in heat generated.
