About this cause

I-touches is located directly within Castlemilk, Glasgow. Castlemilk ranks as one of the most deprived areas in Scotland within the 2016 SMID. Local residents experience the hardships and obstacles of poverty such as violence, youth unemployment, a lack of geographic mobility due to disability and dependence on public transport, and a lack of local opportunities for employment. I-Touches aims to provide local residents an all-weather facility for sports and recreational activity located right on their doorstep. I-Touches also intends to host many projects and events aimed to encourage participation in sport, combat social isolation, foster local community cohesion, and allow locals of all ages to develop their skills and make connections that will advance their employment prospects.

How this cause brings people in the community together

A facility that is local and affordable to the income deprived residents of Castlemilk, and welcoming to all ages, genders and backgrounds will make participation in physical activity easier and more appealing, helping combat the effects of deprivation such as ill-health and social isolation. This will be a safe environment for communal activities, bringing back the spirit of street sports.
