We want our Parish Church to be a building that is appropriate for life in the 21st Century and a place to build community involvement.
About this cause
Christ Church is the Parish Church of Downend, serving a population of 28,000 people not only from Downend, but also Bromley Heath, Staple Hill, Blackhorse and part of Emersons Green. Our purpose is to enrich the life of all ages in our community by using the historic building not only for worship, marriages, baptisms and funerals but also by welcoming local schools, hosting creative arts events, conferences and community groups. The vision is for Christ Church to be a place where creativity is celebrated, community is built and Christian spirituality is nurtured. Building4Life is a £1m project that will release the full potential of this building whilst keeping its Georgian character, thus enabling the church to continue to better serve this generation as well as those yet to come.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Building4Life is the next critical step in the life of Christ Church. It will provide a sustainable building that is flexible, functional and accessible to all. In realising the full design and vision to sensitively move this historical building into the 21st Century, both the Church and wider community will be serve effectively for many years to come.
