About this cause

Dovery Manor Museum is a small local museum, based on and in Porlock. We hold photographic archives, family history research, books of local interest, specialist collections, and many local artefacts concerning the trades and farming in Porlock and Porlock Vale. We have NO paid employees, and we are run by volunteers, who open the museum with a different "main" exhibition each year, six days a week, from May to the end of September. We also try our best to control the very steep garden which surrounds the museum, and leads to a roof-top view of Porlock and across to Wales.

How this cause brings people in the community together

As our income is reliant on donations from visitor, we are anxious to reduce our costs in any way we can, so that our 45 volunteers can concentrate on preserving, maintaining, cataloging and research, rather than fund raising to pay running costs.
