About this cause

SCYD was set up in 2005 with the ethos ’Imagine what can be achieved where nobody cares who takes the credit’ to provide a non judgmental safe environment where young people from 12 to 25 years could become part of the organisation, and join in one of the projects, Inter-generational , events team, media, cookery, gardening or just making new friends and having fun. SCYD has been involved with many community groups in Blairgowrie Blair in Bloom, One Voice, Highland Games, Braemer night, Cateran Romp and they have organised and run a Fun day in Rattray SCYD works with Blairgowrie High School, local primary Schools, Skills Development Scotland, Social Work, Police, Rathbones, Perth & Kinross Council, RASAC, Mindspace, The Web Project and local volunteers of the project.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Blairgowrie and Rattray have many of the government 'areas of deprivation' this can have detrimental effects on young peoples mental health, feelings of isolated and lack of confidence. Working with the young people will lessen anti social behavior, encourage them to work within SCYD in a project gaining self esteem, confidence, new skills and breaking down generational barriers.
