About this cause
Poole Society For Young Musician (PSYM) is a classical music educational charity with the primary objective of providing tutoring and performance opportunities for young people. Workshops, concerts and the annual Summer School provide opportunities for young musicians from grade 1 to budding professionals. Under the heading of the Broadstone Music Series, the concerts themselves provide high quality classical musical experiences for the local community. The concerts integrate professional musicians with young talented players through workshops and joint performances. This year 72 young people, aged 10-18 attended the 3 day Summer School, and many of these take part in the concerts & workshops throughout the year, with returning higher education music students, who also coach and tutor.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Broadstone Music Series runs a series of concerts (typically 8 per year) in Broadstone and surrounding area. These concerts are performed by local professional musicians working with young musicians that we tutor. Our events provide excellent classical music opportunities for the local community as a whole. Typically 50-150 members of the general public attend each concert/workshop.
