The Clock Tower Sanctuary
Young People
Help us cover costs to provide homeless young people in Brighton & Hove a safe and supportive place to get the essential help they need.
About this cause
The Clock Tower Sanctuary is the only day centre providing information, advice and support to homeless young people aged 16-25 in Brighton and Hove. Our mission is: ‘To prevent young homeless people from becoming part of the long-term homeless population’. We provide a safe and welcoming place where hyp can relax, get their immediate, critical needs met and support from volunteers. As the relationship develops, hyp are supported to address the issues that lead to their homelessness and work towards a brighter future. We provide: * Crisis Support Services incl. access to showers and hot nutritious food * Move-On Support incl. help to secure training, a job and home * Community Involvement with various volunteer opportunities available to local residents and businesses
How this cause brings people in the community together
We work with some of the most marginalised and vulnerable young people in B&H. The majority have experienced extremely challenging early lives, come from broken or dysfunctional homes including care settings. In 2016 we provided 1,144 showers; 4,454 meals; 2,124 telephone usages and 159 Crisis Fund applications. We have 45 community volunteers, many of whom go onto paid work in the sector.
