We want to build a new meeting room; this will then enable us to extend and upgrade the kitchen and add a separate bar serving area.

About this cause

Caryford Hall is the main community hall serving the town of Castle Cary and the adjoining village of Ansford. It provides a good sized space for use by the entire community, including nearby villages. The Hall can seat a maximum of 287 people. The venue is truly multi-purpose and is used for indoor sports activities, lectures, concerts, films, performances, family celebrations, the Toddler Group and much, much more; the Hall is much used by by local groups with a range of activities for all ages. The income from hall lettings covers our day to day expenditure and any surplus at the end of the year is set aside for future, out of the ordinary expenditure, as is all fundraising income. Hire charges are kept as low as possible so that the Hall is affordable to everyone.

How this cause brings people in the community together

A larger brighter meeting room will help meet the demand for bookings at the Hall; the current meeting room is too small for many bookings and we often have to turn people away. A larger better laid out kitchen will make it much easier to cater for events, parties and such like. The current kitchen doubles up as a bar serving area and it can be chaotic with people tripping over each other.
