We want to run a series of events and activities in Middleton Park for anyone to access and to encourage enjoyment of this green space.
About this cause
We promote interest in and protection of Middleton Park. We run activities and events in the park throughout the year. These events are free to attend, enabling families to come along, meet new people, and have new experiences. We are all volunteers. Our work helps our volunteers to make new friends, reduce isolation, access fresh air and the wonderful woodland environment. Our events are aimed at local families, often on a low income, children, older people, regular park users and visitors from further afield. We are a well known presence in the park and have been instrumental in promoting other changes in the park, like the new Visitors Centre. Our aims are to improve and develop facilities across the park, encourage the community to use the park and protect wildlife and its habitats.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Middleton Park is at the heart of the community. We are considered to be a deprived area, with people on low incomes and with higher rates of ill health. Our events bring people together, gives them new, free experiences and access to nature; all being good for physical and mental wellbeing and without the worry of an expensive day out . We have also seen less antisocial behaviour in the park.
