About this cause

Based in Lancing, the Barracuda Explorers are an inclusive, family and community orientated section of the Adur Explorer Scout’s who are proactive and have a strong sense of community involvement. The unit comprises of over thirty young people aged between 14- 18 years old, all actively taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, who attend each week to have the opportunity to develop, learn and enjoy themselves so that they may play constructive roles in society, With an overall aim to give young people the chance to experience the outdoors; interact with others, gain confidence and have the opportunity to reach full potential. With many of our leaders having come up through the troop from a young age to continue the work that scouting stands for.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Building a stronger troop with more equal opportunities we will be more successful in the encouragement of helping others to gain a fantastic experience offering opportunities to learn life skills, develop and learn. Using the principle of learning by doing we encourage all of our young people to be independent and morally responsible, to care for themselves, their community and their local area.
