About this cause

The 229th St. Aldelms Scout Group is a fully inclusive group offering a range of activities for both boys and girls, aged 6-14 across our three sections, Beavers, Cubs & Scouts. We have 7 volunteer adult leaders and four fantastic young leaders (aged 14-16) who are all former members of our younger sections. We have seen huge growth in numbers in recent years and now have 87 young members, which we will see rise to 112 in September 2017. We offer a wide range of activities including canoeing, sailing, bowling, caving, den building, crafts, day trips and summer camping trips to name but a few. Our aim is too provide as many opportunities and positive experiences for our young people as we can, giving them the skills and confidence they need as they grow and become adults.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We are hoping to use the equipment to generate future income for the group by offering sessions to other Scout groups in the local area or by hiring out the equipment to other qualified instructors. In this way the grant would benefit even larger numbers of children. It is the experience of our leaders that this type of equipment is very scarce is our area and would be a great resource to obtain.
