We need to replace our trailer so we can continue to offer our members the chance to experience camping, close to home and further afield.
About this cause
3rd Holmesfield Scout Group is one of the largest Scout groups in the Dronfield District with 113 young people aged 6 to 18 years attending regularly. The group offers new experiences, adventures and fun in a supportive environment. We offer camping trips every year, either weekends or longer trips. The Scout group, run entirely by volunteers, also need to spend time fundraising to allow us to replace/maintain equipment. We would like to replace our trailer. Our current trailer, bought in May 2001, has been to camps as far afield as London, Norwich, Blackpool and the East coast. Once at camp the trailer becomes the food store, providing a clean dry store, safe from animals. Literally hundreds of people have eaten food from the trailer store and used equipment delivered by it.
How this cause brings people in the community together
A trailer helps to reduce traffic on our roads and is more environmentally friendly. Parents don’t have to travel to the sites to drop off/collect their children, reducing the expense for families and making it easier for working families. It also allows the group to travel further afield. More local young people will benefit from spending time outside, teamwork and becoming more independent
