About this cause

The DPJ Foundation aims to support people in rural communities with mental health problems. The charity does this in 2 main ways. The first being spreading the message about mental health through social media campaigns, mental health talks and mental health awareness training in the community. The second being a counselling referral service which is currently being set up (launch November 2017). This service will enable people in rural communities to access talking therapies services for free within a week time frame. The current NHS waiting time is approx. 6-9 months and Pembrokeshire Counselling service is 8 weeks. We aim to support those in the rural communities who are in need of immediate mental health support.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our community is made up of a largely rural population. This population is need of support with the on going epidemic our country is going through with their mental health. 1 in 4 people suffers with mental health problems in their life time and the rural community in particular the agricultural sector carry one of the highest rates of suicide. We aim to support these people.
