Selkirk Tennis Club
Sport
We want to build a pavilion clubhouse with disabled facilities suitable to support the club's growing activities for the local community.
About this cause
Selkirk Tennis Club has 3 courts providing a lively social hub, promoting a healthy lifestyle for children, young people of Selkirk and the surrounding communities including Lilliesleaf, Ashkiek, Midlem, Ettrick & Yarrow where there are no other active tennis clubs. 5 of our members have coaching qualifications and 2 of our members have gained Tennis refereeing certificates which enable them to run competitions at the club. Our objectives include - Provide an opportunity for people of all ages 5-80+ to play tennis for fun or in league competitions at an affordable membership or a small cost for casual players - Help club members gain coaching qualification to then offer a range of coaching opportunities to others including weekly free coaching to children and young people.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The court is used by a range of people over the week, club members, casual users, school sessions , tournaments to help to expand this our trustees and volunteers work hard to promote and maintain the club. The new pavilion will provide a good quality sports facility for the community including disabled facilities with the aim to include a full disabled Programme in the future.
